Prefinish
MBC's Paintshop applies stain and clear catalyzed conversion varnish finishesAs one of the few cabinets shops in San Luis Obispo County that has its own prefinish facility, Morro Bay Cabinets can deliver a complete product to you without involving a third party finisher.

All of our cabinets are pre-coated with baked-on catalyzed conversion varnish, which is hard, durable, and water resistant. Morro Bay Cabinets is one of the few sources in SLO county for this highly resilient finish.

Having Morro Bay Cabinets pre-finish your cabinets is especially valuable if you are in the process of remodeling. By having your cabinets finished in our shop, as opposed to having someone else spray them inside your house, you can avoid a big mess and weeks of the lingering fumes of stain and varnish.

If you are unsure as to which type finish you prefer, feel free to drop by our showroom, or click here to view our finish gallery. We have a large display with many different types of finishes shown on a variety of woods.

Morro Bay Cabinets' Finish Process

  1. We start with material that is hand sorted for quality. All surfaces that will receive finish undergo a multi-step sanding process to ensure uniformity.
  2. All dust particles are removed from the sanded surfaces with pressurized air.
  3. Stain is applied and allowed to soak deep into the wood.
  4. Stained surfaces are hand-rubbed for even distribution and the removal of excess stain.
  5. The stain is allowed to slowly air dry.
  6. A sealer is applied under pressure and dried with heated air.
  7. All sealed surfaces are hand sanded to provide a consistent and smooth surface for our catalyzed conversion varnish topcoat.
  8. Eco-friendly low-VOC catalyzed conversion varnish is applied. This durable finish provides U.V. protection and maximum resistance to moisture, yellowing, scuffing, dents and household cleaners.
  9. After the topcoat is applied, the cabinets are left in a heated staging area to allow the finish to bake on and cure completely.
  10. After the finishing process is complete, all cabinets are inspected and approved before transportation to your jobsite for installation.

A note from the maker of our finish:

“Beyond merely following the regulations governing our products, we strive to exceed the most stringent environmental standards without compromising the look, durability, or ease of use that distinguish our coatings.”
